    How MannSetu Handles Crisis Situations

    Privacy-First Crisis Detection

    Crisis detection happens entirely on your device using on-device AI. Your conversations are never sent to our servers for analysis. We cannot read your messages - but your device can still detect crisis situations and show you emergency resources instantly.

    On-Device Crisis Detection

    Our on-device AI analyzes your conversations locally on your phone or browser for crisis-related patterns (suicide, self-harm, violence). This analysis happens entirely on YOUR device - your words never leave your device for crisis detection. When a potential crisis is detected, your device immediately triggers safety resources.

    Instant Crisis Modal

    When your device detects a crisis, a support modal appears immediately showing Tele-MANAS (14416) and other helplines. This is triggered by YOUR device, not our servers. The conversation pauses until you acknowledge the resources. All crisis resources are pre-loaded on your device for instant access, even offline.

    Human Counselor Option (Coming Soon)

    In the future, we'll offer an option for YOU to choose to connect with a licensed human counselor. This would be initiated by you from your device - we never automatically share your conversations with anyone.

    Anonymous Safety Metrics

    To improve our crisis detection AI, your device may send anonymous, aggregated statistics (like "crisis modal was shown" or "user called helpline") - never the content of your conversations. You can opt-out of even this anonymous reporting in Settings. We use these metrics to improve the on-device AI model.

    What Our AI Cannot Do

    • Diagnose mental health conditions (only licensed professionals can)
    • Prescribe medication or replace psychiatric treatment
    • Guarantee outcomes or cure mental health issues
    • Handle life-threatening emergencies (call 112 immediately)
    • Provide therapy covered by insurance (we're a wellness tool)
    • Understand context perfectly (AI has limitations in nuance)

    Report Harmful AI Responses

    We continuously improve our AI model, but sometimes it may provide responses that are:

    • Harmful or dangerous advice
    • Insensitive or dismissive to your feelings
    • Factually incorrect information
    • Reinforcing negative thought patterns
    • Inappropriate or offensive content

    How to Report:

    1. In the chat interface, click the "Report" button on the AI's message
    2. Select the issue type and describe what went wrong
    3. Emergency safety reports are prioritized for immediate review
    4. The feedback helps us improve our AI model

    While MannSetu can provide daily support, you should consult a licensed mental health professional if you experience:

    • Thoughts of suicide or self-harm
    • Plans to hurt yourself or others
    • Severe panic attacks or dissociation
    • Psychotic symptoms (hallucinations, delusions)

    Schedule Professional Care

    • Symptoms interfering with daily life for 2+ weeks
    • Diagnosed mental health condition needing treatment
    • Medication management required
    • Therapy covered by insurance/employer benefits
